Prof. Liu was invited to deliver a memorial lecture for the celebration of the 60th Anniversary of DICP on 11th September at the Lecture Venue of the Bio-Tech Building. The title of his lecture was "Exploring Nature's Strategies for Making Secondary Metabolites: Mechanisms, Pathways, and Biosynthetic Applications".
Prof. Liu introduced the new trends and new methods in the R&D of new drugs. He used Spinosyn A and Desosasmine as examples to illustrate how synthesis paths for complex natural products can be carried out basing on biology, enzymology and organic chemistry means.
The lecturing session was chaired by Prof. ZHAO Zongbao of DICP. More than 100 scientists and graduate students presented the lecture.
